What colleges actually look for

  1. Depth, not a long list. Two or three activities over several years mean more than ten short ones.
  2. Growing responsibility. Leading, organizing, teaching, or starting something.
  3. Real impact. What changed because your child was there.

No single club guarantees admission.

Volunteering ideas

  • Dental health days for children(official website)Programs like Give Kids A Smile hold free dental days; ask if students can help with check-in or teaching brushing.
  • Community health fairsHelp at temple, gurdwara, mosque, or community health camps.

Dental school comes after a bachelor’s degree. Many dental schools expect applicants to have shadowed a dentist, so a few hours of shadowing in high school is a good start.

These count too

  • Caring for siblings or translating for parents
  • Steady service at your temple, gurdwara, mosque, or community group
